This website is designed to enhance a student's understanding of how the government of Canada was formed throughout our long history. This includes an introductory knowledge of the British North America Act, the Statute of Westminster, and the Patriation of the Canadian Constitution. Also on this site there will be a timeline detailing when each province/territory joined Canada. The students' will utilize this newly acquired knowledge to create a final project, a creative timeline that details the many different steps it took for Canada to become what it is today. This final project will include research elements as well as personal reflections. This website, and accompanying project, are in direct accordance with the British Columbia Ministry of Education curriculum for grade 5 social studies. The projected learning outcome of C1 states that a student needs to be able to "demonstrate knowledge of how Confederation formed Canada as a nation" (http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/irp/curric_grade_packages/gr5curric_req.pdf, pg. 73).
